Turbomolecular Pumps Mechanical

Turbomolecular pumps (TMPs) are kinetic vacuum pumps which operate using a very fast spinning rotor (usually rotating at between 24,000 and 90,000 RPM). Their typical operating pressures are in the high to ultra-high pressure range between 10-3 and 10-11 mbar, employing pumping speeds of between 10 and 4,000 l/s. They are widely used in scientific and industrial applications that require precise and clean vacuum environments, such as surface analysis, mass spectrometry, and vacuum deposition. They can operate continuously for long periods, making them ideal for many laboratory and manufacturing applications.

nEXT Pumps

nEXT turbomolecular pumps are hybrid bearing pumps with integrated controllers for pumping speeds from 47 to 1250 ls-1.

 

The nEXT is a hybrid bearing compound turbomolecular pump. nEXT pumps combine our proven bearing technology, an improved rotor design with a new molecular drag stage to deliver improved pumping speed and compression ratios, and user serviceability. They feature 24 V to 48 V DC sensorless motors with a built-in drive that is fully compatible with our range of TAG and TIC controllers.

With the nEXT730 oil free turbomolecular pump Edwards provides a larger pump offering nitrogen pumping speeds of up to 730 l/s.

nEXT730D - CF160 NW25

is a turbo molecular pump - hybrid bearing with a D - Duplex design offering a balanced performance between good gas throughput and good light gas compression.

Performance Comment The compression of a TMP is a value describing how good the design can compress a gas type at special conditions. Compression data is measured only using the CF flange variants. The values are stated for all family members. For some pump classes we are stating different pumping speeds ISO > CF flange as small differences in geometry influence their performance leading to a difference >5%.
